Restrictions and adjustments to provide a safe 2021 season

1. General League Operation

        1. Players and family members must monitor health at home. If player has

any symptoms, even if it is not believed to be COVID-19 related, he/she must stay at

home. Players/spectators prior to game/warmup/practice will have temperature

checked by coach/volunteer/community center staff using "Touchless Thermometer-

Forehead Thermometer". If player/spectator has a temperature of 100.4 or greater

then he/she must leave the gym. Refusal to leave could result in trespass and police.

        2. Per MDHS, not more than 50 people in the gym. This results in only one

​spectator per player allowed in gym for games.
       
        3. Spectators/families sitting in stands must social distance and wear masks.

        4. No gum chewing.
        
2. Game Play

        1. No sharing water bottles, personal equipment and congratulatory expression

(high fives).

​        2. Face masks to be worn by players when in game. Coaches to wear masks at all

times.

        3. Players on bench must wear face masks and practice distancing.

        4. Referees to wear plastic face shields or masks at all times.

        5. Referees to use electronic whistles.

        6. Scorekeepers to wear face masks at all times. Coaches to use their own

pens/pencils to update score sheets.

        7. Basketball to be disinfected at start of game, quarters and end of game.

        8. Games start times will be scheduled so teams can depart prior to new teams

arriving. Teams should arrive no earlier than fifteen (15) minutes before game time.

        9.Coaches/Referees may not make physical contact with players unless there is

​an injury. Masks must be worn in this instance.   


3. Practices Will be Eliminated if not Enough Gym Space is Available

        1. For the Co-Ed division practices are mandatory. The first six (6) games will be

considered scrimmages with coaches on the floor stopping play to advise players.

Rules from the rule book will be adhered to.

        2. All other divisions will only have games. Season might be extended to April,

2021 to play ten (10) games plus playoffs.


​4. Positive Cases and Quarantine

        1. Any player (family member included) who tests positive for COVID-19 will not

be allowed to attend for fourteen (14) days. A negative test will be required at the

conclusion of the fourteen (14) days in order to return to activities.

        2. All others with exposure to positive case (direct or indirect) will also be

quarantined from the League for fourteen (14) days. This may also include siblings

playing on other teams.

        3. If any player or family member has had contact with a positive COVID case

they will be responsible to report to the league and quarantine from the league for

fourteen (14) days.
